Dehusked paddy results in white rice.  There are different types of rice, only certain varieties are used for making idli. By grinding the rice along with proportionate water and other ingredients like orid and fenugreek we get a white paste, called as Idli Batter. The required amount of  of this batter is streamed in cooking vessels to make soft idlis.

Idlies have zero fat, high carbohydrates, protein, and fiber content making it the healthiest food for all age groups.
